Asda Cwmbran reveals plans for store extension

Written by on 9th February 2021

A planning application has been submitted to Torfaen Council which could bring an extension to the Asda Cwmbran store.

The planning application was submitted to Torfaen County Borough Council on Monday 8th February 2021. A decision is expected to be made shortly.

If the planning application is approved, the supermarket would make alterations to the existing staff car park layout and erect a new ‘grocery collections’ point. There would also be a home shopping pod extension to the existing store.

Expansion of the drive-thru opportunity is essential as the Click & Collect service offered by Asda has quadrupled in the past 6 months. With the Click & Collect service, customers can order online and drive through designated collection points without entering a store, if they wish to do so (i.e. for ease, convenience and to remain safe in their vehicle).

Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, the 600+ Asda stores have played a crucial part in supporting communities across Britain.

The plans for the proposed extension can be found below. The area marked in red shows the location of the proposed elevations alongside the existing store which is marked in blue.
