Vitalize Radio supports Christmas cheer idea
Written by Dan Williams on 1st November 2020
If you’re active on social media at the moment, then you may be aware of the group called “A Covid Christmas” which was set up recently.
The group was set up by Jodie Greenslade to make Christmas as special as possible whilst the world adapts to celebrating differently this year due to Coronavirus.
In the groups description, Jodie said “I’ve noticed a post suggesting people go outside at 6pm on Christmas eve to ring a bell for 2 mins…..I LOVE this idea so want to push forward with it to make it happen.”
She continues: “The plan is at 6pm for the whole of Newport (the whole of Wales) infact the whole of Britain to come out onto their doorsteps/ balconies/windows and ring a bell for 2mins…..then at 6:02pm join in with a verse of We wish you a merry Christmas!”
The Facebook group has attracted more than 11,000 members in just a matter of days where many are posting their festive activity plans and excitement.
Vitalize Radio is supporting this Covid-friendly idea where we will play “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” at 6:02pm on Christmas Eve to support the singalong. As well as this, we will advertise the event and interview group Founder Jodie Greenslade ahead of the event.
Station Manager of Vitalize Radio, Gavin Andrew, said:
My sister tagged me in a post that Jodie put up looking for people to get involved and help raise awareness.
I thought that community spirit has been so important during Coronavirus, people have been looking for it. We helped to promote the clapping for NHS workers and that really brought people together.
We will be getting involved, helping spread festive cheer. It’s a simple idea to bring the community together and make people happy at this difficult time.
