Vitalize UK awarded more than £9k lottery funding

Written by on 24th March 2021

Vitalize UK, the constituted group behind Vitalize Radio – Torfaens Community Radio Station, has received more than £9k from a recent funding application.

The grant was awarded by The National Lottery’s Community Fund. Awards For All offers funding from £300 to £10,000 to support what matters to people and communities.

Vitalize UK will use the grant money to support Vitalize Radio and improve our services further.

The grant will support Mobile App Development, Rent and Utilities, Broadcasting Licenses, Streaming and Website Costs, and Office Equipment.

Dan Williams, Volunteer Founder of Vitalize UK, said:

With the funding from The National Lottery’s Awards For All, Vitalize Radio can continue operating as Torfaens Community Radio Station providing voluntary training opportunities whilst keeping the community connected with each other and also up to date with the latest information and public service announcements throughout the COVID-19 lockdown period.

Jan Thomas, one of Vitalize’s presenters, applied for the funding and added:

Vitalize Radio has been my saviour since I first joined the team nearly three years ago – and even more so in the last year,

We run entirely on donations, fundraising efforts and money made doing mobile discos, so as all of those were not possible during this year.

I am so glad that we were successful in our grant application.
